How to hand off a client project with every decision and source attached
Put the final deliverables and the working files that explain them, such as briefs, meeting notes, timelines and approvals, into one Base and send the client the link. Base turns them into an overview, a timeline and key decisions, each tied to a quote from the file it came from, so the client and whoever works on the project next can see why something was decided without asking you.

What to include
- The deliverables themselves.
- The brief and any changes to it.
- Meeting notes and email threads where decisions were made. On Pro you can forward emails straight into a Base.
- The timeline or plan, and the budget if the client should see it.
- Anything a successor would otherwise have to ask you about.
Steps
- Create a Base named for the project and add the files.
- Read the overview and timeline Base writes, and correct anything in the review queue.
- Choose access. Link mode suits a client team that will pass it around; invite mode suits a named set of people.
- If the client should be able to send documents back, turn on contributions, so a signed-in reader can add documents and new versions. Only you can delete.
- Publish and send the link. On Pro, the Base can carry your logo, name and colors.
After the handoff
When you add or replace a document, Base keeps the earlier version and rereads the Base. Readers who follow it see what changed the next time they or their AI check, so the handoff stays current instead of becoming a stale folder.
Questions
Can the client's new agency use their own AI on it?
Yes, if AI access is on. They paste the link into a chat or connect Base to their AI app, and every answer comes with the quote it is based on.
Is there a size limit?
Each file can be up to 50 MB. Free includes 1 GB of storage and Pro 100 GB.
Try it with your own documents
Free for your first Bases, no card. Every new account starts with a Base that explains Base, so there is a cited answer to inspect right away.
